Where to go on your autumn holiday by motorhome
Autumn is a great time for motorhome travel
Travelling in your “own bubble”
First, a word for those of you who are still unsure whether to go on holiday in a motorhome. Autumn and winter bring all kinds of viruses, and the cold and flu season begins in earnest. That makes a motorhome a wonderful, almost ideal solution, because you travel in your “own bubble” the whole time.
Your living space travels with you, and you avoid contact with crowds of strangers. At pickup the motorhome is cleaned and disinfected, and from then on you are in control. With a wide range of extras, it keeps you comfortable throughout your trip. See the extras you can rent here.

An autumn motorhome holiday in Slovenia
Slovenia surprises most visitors in every way – natural beauty, varied landscapes with many caves, lakes and forests, and many historic old towns. The wide range of natural and urban sights, each with its own character, makes Slovenia the perfect country for a motorhome trip, for young and older travellers alike.

Lake Bled and Triglav National Park
One of the most beautiful destinations is surely a motorhome trip to fairy-tale Lake Bled, with the romantic charm of its famous lake and the little island with its church. Right above the lake, on a mighty rocky outcrop, stands the oldest castle in Slovenia, Bled Castle. From the castle you can admire the peaks of the Alps and the shimmering lake stretching out below you. You can enjoy a guided tour, discover the castle’s fascinating history, have a bite in the castle restaurant or visit the castle wine cellar. You can also combine the trip with a visit to the Vintgar gorge, only a few kilometres away.
For nature lovers we recommend a visit to Triglav National Park, with its many natural wonders. You can head out on hiking trails to discover the high peaks of our mountains or cycle through this unspoilt nature.
Discovering the mysterious Karst and the coast
The Karst is a mysterious part of our beautiful country. All the karst features on the surface lead us to the most beautiful underground natural wonders. One of them is surely Škocjan Caves, a true karst masterpiece protected by UNESCO. Take your time to explore along the marked paths, or hire a personal guide for a more exciting visit.
The Karst villages have a special charm too. One of the best known is the village of Štanjel, which will fascinate you with its architecture. In its centre lies the Ferrari Garden, with an endless view over the rolling hills.
For the best view of the Slovenian coast and the Gulf of Trieste, drive up to Socerb. On the coast, we recommend parking your motorhome in Fiesa and walking along the footpath to the romantic coastal town of Piran. It is known for its streets with a Venetian touch, its art studios and Tartini Square. On a small hill above Piran stands St George’s Church, with a wonderful view of the coast.
Also visit the other lovely coastal towns that welcome you with seafood, a medieval touch, gourmet cuisine and a pleasant atmosphere: Koper, Portorož and Izola.
An autumn motorhome holiday in Croatia
On a motorhome trip around Croatia you can combine beautiful towns and natural sights.

Zadar and the Plitvice Lakes
The city of Zadar is bursting with historic buildings, including an impressive ancient Roman forum. Besides its architecture, the city is especially famous for its beautiful sunsets, which you must not miss. Just over 1.5 hours from the city you can visit the Plitvice Lakes. In this famous national park you can admire countless waterfalls and lakes. The area is great for walks in every season. We also recommend a visit to Kornati National Park, which you can also explore on a boat trip from Zadar.
Split and Krka National Park
Split has become much busier with tourists since the famous fantasy series “Game of Thrones” was filmed there, as there are several filming locations in and around the city. We recommend climbing Marjan Hill, which gives you a wonderful view over the whole city. Also visit Diocletian’s Palace in the heart of the city.
In Krka National Park, which is easy to reach from Split, you will find the most beautiful waterfalls. The stunning nature will take your breath away, just as at the Plitvice Lakes. The big difference between the two parks is that in Krka National Park you can swim in some places, while at the Plitvice Lakes swimming is not allowed. Krka National Park is a little less well known and therefore less crowded.
An autumn motorhome holiday in Italy
Italy is the perfect country for a motorhome trip. You can see a wide variety of landscapes and get to know the people, the food and the natural sights.

Milan and Lake Garda
Milan is famous as Italy’s fashion capital. It is also a city of wonderful architecture, with the Piazza del Duomo and the Castello Sforzesco castle in the city centre. A popular day trip from Milan is the impressive Lake Como, the deepest lake in the country. We also recommend a boat trip.
From Milan you can drive to the famous Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, with ideal places to relax. You can walk along beautiful paths, cycle or cool off in the lake. You can also visit Rocca Scaligera, one of the best-preserved castles in the country. Around Lake Garda you will find many destinations where everyone can relax in their own way.
Florence and the surrounding area
Florence and its surroundings are one of the best-known areas in the country. The city is full of sights, with the cathedral and the Ponte Vecchio standing out. Just driving through this beautiful countryside will delight you. Discover the true Italian landscape in the Chianti area, taste the best ice cream and take the famous photo at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. You will certainly never be bored in Florence.
Naples and Pompeii
Naples is a port city, famous as the birthplace of the pizza margherita. In the city itself, the many catacombs, passages and underground tunnels are well worth a visit. Just outside the city you will find the still active Mount Vesuvius, which you can also climb. We also recommend a visit to ancient Pompeii, the city that was buried under the volcanic ash of Vesuvius.
These are just a few ideas for an autumn break for those of you who don’t like sitting still and love discovering several destinations on one trip, which is exactly what motorhome travel lets you do. Even if you run into bad weather, our motorhomes are very spacious and heated, and comfortable enough for you to spend more time inside.
