Motorhome rental for 2 people – tips and benefits

Renting a motorhome for two is becoming an ever more popular way to travel for couples, friends, relatives and anyone who wants more freedom and genuine experiences. A motorhome lets you travel at your own pace, without strict timetables, with all the comforts of home and the freedom to decide on the spot. Below we present the main benefits of a motorhome rental for 2 people, tips on choosing the right vehicle and practical advice on preparing for your trip.

A motorhome is a vehicle and a living space in one. You can drive it with a category B driving licence, which means anyone who drives a car can drive it. It has a kitchen, berths, a dining area and, in most cases, a bathroom, so you have everything you need for life on the road. Motorhome rental is the ideal choice for couples who want to spend more quality time together.

A well-chosen motorhome offers just the right amount of space, comfort and privacy, while letting you share the journey, nature and new places together without limits.

Motorhome rental for two is a great choice for:

  • romantic getaways,
  • active holidays,
  • longer road trips,
  • or anyone who wants more freedom than other ways of travelling can offer.

The benefits of a motorhome rental for 2 people

Mobility and flexible travel

One of the biggest benefits of travelling by motorhome is mobility: you are not tied to one location or to accommodation booked in advance. You can adapt your route as you go to the weather, your mood or interesting places you discover along the way. You and your travel companion can also share the driving, which makes the trip more relaxed and less tiring. With a motorhome you can stop wherever it is allowed, take a break or have a meal, and change your plans when needed without any fuss.

Savings on accommodation and costs

When you travel by motorhome, you save on hotels, plane tickets and other transport. The kitchen in the motorhome lets you cook your own meals, which really cuts your food costs. At the same time, you are in full control of what and when you eat. At campsites you can also cook outdoors.

Comfort and privacy on the road

Modern motorhomes are designed for maximum comfort. Your own kitchen, bathroom and comfortable berths make for a relaxing stay wherever you are.

Before your trip, choose a motorhome that suits the kind of trip you are planning. A motorhome for touring European cities will be different from one for spending time on the coast.

Close to nature and off the beaten track

With a motorhome you can reach places that are harder to get to by other means of transport. Driving through scenic landscapes, stopping at viewpoints and waking up by the sea or in the mountains bring you closer to nature and give you unforgettable experiences.

It can also mean more shared moments in nature – from morning coffee with a view to evenings under the stars. You get a more genuine connection with your surroundings and a slower, more mindful way of travelling.

With a few simple extras, such as a small table and two chairs under the awning, the space in front of your motorhome quickly becomes a cosy outdoor corner for reading, breakfast or dinner in the open air. If the surroundings allow, you can also take time for walks, bike rides or morning yoga in nature, with no rush and no time limits.

Planning and enjoying the journey together

Travelling by motorhome brings you closer together. Planning the route, choosing destinations and being spontaneous together create unforgettable memories.

All our motorhomes are very well equipped and suitable for travel in every season. Treat yourself to a carefree winter break near the ski resorts or an autumn road trip without the crowds. Some models have underfloor heating in addition to living-area heating.

Key factors when choosing a motorhome

Motorhomes differ in type, equipment, layout and size, so choose a vehicle that matches your travel style.

When choosing a motorhome for two, pay attention to:

  • the size and layout of the living area,
  • the size of the berths,
  • the equipment,
  • how easy it is to drive and park,
  • storage space for luggage.

Before you rent, agree with your travel companion on what you both expect and want from the motorhome. We will be happy to advise you on choosing the right one.

Types of motorhome we recommend for two

Camper van: Camper vans are ideal for couples planning shorter trips or city breaks. They are nimble, economical and easy to drive and park, while offering good comfort for their size.

Thanks to its smaller size, a camper van is easier to handle on narrow roads, in car parks and at smaller campsites.

Compact semi-integrated motorhome: Compared with a camper van, it offers much more space and comfort for two. It is well suited to longer trips, as it has more luggage space and a bigger living area, yet it is still easy to drive in town.

California campers: They are compact, aerodynamic and ideal for city centres. Thanks to their size and practicality, you can park them wherever you would park a car, even in some multi-storey car parks. They drive very well and offer the perfect balance of size and comfort for two people. Compared with camper vans and compact semi-integrated motorhomes, they do not have a proper bathroom or toilet, and their kitchen is smaller.

Prices for a motorhome rental for 2 people

The price of a motorhome rental depends on:

  • the season,
  • the length of the rental,
  • the type and size of the vehicle,
  • the equipment and services included.

You can check the exact prices and availability of each motorhome on our website, or use our availability search.

Preparing for your motorhome trip

Route planning and booking in good time

We recommend that you book your motorhome several months in advance. For the high season in particular, we advise booking 6 months before your rental, so you can be sure to get the dates you want.

High-season dates fill up fast. Besides the summer holidays, the high season also includes the May Day holidays, the autumn half-term, Christmas and New Year. For exact season dates, please check the price list and the notes below it on each motorhome’s page.

When planning a motorhome trip, it is essential to prepare a basic route outline before you leave. This means deciding on the main destinations, the approximate distances between campsites or stopovers and how long you will stay at each place. If you want more spontaneity, simply set the main points and leave the rest to improvisation on the road.

More tips:

  • Choosing a campsite: Check in advance whether the campsite accepts motorhomes and whether it has water and electricity hook-ups and waste water disposal.
  • Booking campsites in peak season: In summer and during public holidays campsites are very busy, so along with your motorhome it is a good idea to book your campsites in good time too, to avoid unpleasant surprises.
  • When to travel: If you can, travel outside the main season. Motorhome rental prices are lower, campsites are less crowded and there are usually fewer traffic jams on the roads.
  • Flexibility: Plan a few extra hours a day for the unexpected, such as traffic jams, repairs or longer stops at interesting places. Also allow for the time each move to a new location takes: unplugging the electricity, emptying the water, packing away the equipment …
  • Alternative routes: Always have alternatives ready – quieter roads, nearby places to stay overnight or ways to shorten your route if the weather turns bad.

Basic equipment and essentials

All our motorhomes are fully prepared and equipped for carefree travel in every season.

For an enjoyable trip, we recommend that you bring:

  • basic food supplies,
  • kitchen utensils and crockery,
  • personal items and bed linen,
  • suitable clothing.

Before you leave, we show you how all the functions and systems of the motorhome work (toilet cassette, heating, electrics, water …), which will save you a lot of trouble on the road.

On the road you can refer to our online handbook, which you will also find in every motorhome.
